----------------------- Final Fantasy X-2 By Square-Enix, on Playstation2. NA version. FAQ/walkthrough by Blackestmage. Copyright 2004. Updates: The walkthrough is finally complete, meaning that anyone can finish the game with 100% completion using it. But I'd prefer not say that it is the Final version yet, because I will probably update it again, adding missing infos, correcting a few spelling mistakes, and stuff. Table of contents 1) Introduction 2) E-mail 3) The Characters 4) The Battle System A) Dressphere list B) Garment Grid list C) Special Desspheres 5) Walkthrough 6) The endings 7) General Tips 8) Conclusion 9) Credits Legal stuff: This guide cannot be used for commercial matter. If you want to post it on your site then you must send me an e-mail(see E-Mail Section) asking for the permission and only once I accepted, you can. Thanks. Before reading: Watch out, it's NOT a good idea to follow my walkthrough to beat this game if you haven't beaten Final Fantasy X first since I'll be making a lot of references to it. 1) Introduction Hi! I am Blackestmage! I decided to write a Final Fantasy X-2 FAQ/walkthrough on my own. My goal is to write a SIMPLE walkthrough in which you'll be able to complete and conquer the biggest number of % points possible. At first, the guide won't be completed. But after a bunch of updates, it should give enough informations for you to be able to call yourself a FFX-2 master! This is not my first guide. I wrote boss guides for FF7, FF8, FF9, and Kingdom Hearts. I also wrote a Optional Boss FAQ for FF5, and on top of that, I wrote a Final Fantasy X FAQ/Walkthrough last year. Final Fantasy X-2 is an awesome and solid sequel to FFX in my opinion, and I hope you will like the game, along with my guide ^_^. 2) E-mail You want to ask some questions or you would like to get my permission to post my guide in your site? My e-mail is blackestmage@yahoo.fr. Please, only send questions about the game itself. You can send questions about the characters, walkthrough, bosses, storyline and stuff. But don't ask my age or how many wifes I have, these questions will just be ignored. And no PainSlayer332, you canNOT have my babies. PS: Also, do not forget to put "Final Fantasy X-2" in the topics of your messages(because I do get a lot of questions each day on nearly every guides I wrote so...)! Oh and, I am french too donc les francais ne vous gênez pas de m'écrire dans notre propre et noble langue! 3) The Characters In FFX-2, there are three playable characters. Yuna: She is the protagonist of the game, the main character, and you'll control her for the whole game(or almost). In Final Fantasy X, she was the summoner who wanted to defeat Sin. After successfully winning against the Spiral Of Death, she became High Summoner for bringing the Eternal Calm to Spira. However, she has changed a lot. And I do mean a lot. In FFX she was quite the model woman, doing her prayers and stuff... But now in FFX-2, she has, huh, took her summoner gear and threw it away, and put on some of the "New Generation of young sexy american women" type of clothes. She is also member of a group called the ¨Gullwings¨, which is a team of sphere hunters. What do they do? Well... they hunt.. spheres. You know, those shimmering balls that you could use to view recorded scenes back in FFX. Rikku: Rikku!!! You cannot say she ain't cute. Always happy and careless, Rikku brings the funniest moments and scenes to the game. Back in FFX she was the Al Bhed "Let's do a party tonight!" type of girl. Now in FFX-2, she is... still the Al Bhed "Let's do a party tonight!" type of girl! Even though she is Yuna's cousins, both are acting like if they were sisters. They are also partners, since Rikku is another member of the Gullwings. Paine: A new character... Paine is a mysterious person. Just by looking at her Warrior apparance you can tell she's not the type of girl you want to mess with. She is also not the "come here babe I'll tell you a secret" gal. On contrary, you can't even trade your own secrets with her because she'll just tell you to "bug" off. Just like Yuna and Rikku, she is also a member of the Gullwings. That's it for the playable characters, but in the game, you'll also meet the playable characters of FFX. Wakka: Former coach of the Besaid Aurochs, Wakka is not a curious youngster anymore. He hasn't changed much, but he'll be a father soon. Even though Spira is in peace, he somehow calls himself the guardian of Besaid. Lulu: She is still the same person she was in FFX, but now however, she's a pregnant woman. Who's the father? Wakka of course! So mature in FFX, she has grown up even more now, since she'll be a mother soon enough. Kimahri: Kimahri is at least seven feet tall and he is considered a small person, since he is from the Ronso Tribe, a tribe in which the children are bigger than a human adult. He is now the Elder of Mount Gagazet, so he is well respected by his people AND by the other peoples of Spira as well. And finally, there are the new characters: Leblanc: A nearly naked woman... she, with her two acolytes, is a sphere hunter just like the Gullwings. But she prefers to call that team the DULLwings; both groups are rivals. Ormi: He is one of Leblanc's acolyte, and he is kind of dumb. But his dumbness does give him credits as a FFX-2 character. Logos: Here you have a rather intelligent and smart person. He is also an acolyte of Leblanc. Brother: Rikku's brother and Pop(Cid)'s son, Brother the Al Bhed now speaks english pretty well! But he is still the same though, and he seems to have a...hum..."crush" on Yuna. Funny, since Yuna is his half cousin. Buddy: He's called Buddy for the simple reason that he is a cool buddy ^_^. Just like Brother, he is also a member of the Gullwings on the Celsius, which is the airship. Shinra: That kid is one intelligent member of the Gullwings. He nearly knows everything(except that he looks dumb in his costume). He likes to invent the funniest stuff, like the 'Choco-teleporter'. 4) The Battle System The battle system in FFX-2 is totally different from Final Fantasy X's. Sphere grid is gone, and the original and classic Final Fantasy concept is back; the Jobs(classes). They are actually called 'Dresspheres' and each character can equip a Dressphere to learn some abilities from it. For those who have played Final Fantasy 5 and understood its system then you'll get the catch for this one since it's the same thing, just that now you can switch dressphere in a random encounter. For example, you can be casting black magic spells to a fiend and then change class by switching your dressphere to let say White Mage. However, the dresspheres are dispatched on a grid called Garment Grid. There is a total of 60 Garment Grids if I am correct, and each grids are different. Each grids have nodes. On those nodes, you can place some Dresspheres. Now to switch dressphere you press the R1 Button in a battle and then, you can only select a dressphere that is located one node away from your current node. Some grids also add stats in bonus, and also on the grid itself. For example, let say you have a dressphere placed on a node, and then, if you select the node(with a dressphere on it) that is located just one line away, there might be a colored ground. Now look at the legend of the grid south in the screen to learn what the colored ground does. Some will add a few strenght points to you for the battle and some other will grant you with a skill(you'll be able to use that skill in the battle). Now each Dresspheres have different abilities. Let say Paine is a Warrior. Now from the menu, choose a Garment Grid you'd like to use, and then arrenge it with dresspheres you'd like Paine to use. Then, select one ability per Dressphere and you'll see that you need a certain number of AP(ability points) to learn that skill. Ability Points are gained as your character act in a battle with a dressphere. If you do not give that character any commands, he(actually she)won't get any AP. Once the ability is learned, you'll be able to use it while you're dressed with that particular Dressphere, or if you got an accessory that allows that feature. Now that's it for your abilities but what about your stats? Well, you increase your stats as you gain levels. How do you gain levels? Kill enemies to get EXP. Once you obtained enough EXP, your character will increase his (actually her) level. What about the enemies now? Well the fiends you'll encounter through out the game can also increase their stats by Oversouling. They Oversoul as a specific number of their specie is defeated by you. a) Dressphere list )()()()()()()()()()()()()()((respect da art!) Each girl(Yuna, Rikku and Paine) has a special dressphere that only her can use. We can call these "Special Dresspheres", since they are pretty powerfull and 'superior' to some other Dresspheres. However, if you want one of the girl to put on her Special Dressphere, you need to have equipped every Dresspheres in one battle, and then you press L1. As you do that, the two other allies will leave the battle as well. You need to do that every times you want to equip a Special Dressphere. )()()()()()()()()()()()()()( Special Dressphere: Yuna's Floral Fallal Abilities: Attack, Libra, Heat Whirl, Ice Whirl, Electric Whirl, Aqua Whirl, Barrier, Shield, Flare Whirl, Great Whirl, All-Life, Ribbon, Double HP, Triple HP, Break HP limit, Break Damage limit. Using it, you should be able to get every percentage points you can obtain in the game. However, before you read, I'll say it again; don't use this walkthrough if you haven't beaten Final Fantasy X first, because I'll be making a lot of references to it, and some of them will be spoilers, so... Another note for you, unless you don't want to get every percentage points of the game, don't skip ANY scenes(pressing Square while Pause is on). Doing that, not only you'll miss out on the story, but you'll also lose percentage points. Now why are % points that important? Because if you get 100%, you'll get to see the Perfect Ending, which is a scene added to your ending only if you have 100%. With that said, let's begin! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ First, once you selected New Game at the main menu, you'll witness the Intro of the game. An FMV in which Yuna will be performing in a musical show in Luca for the people of Spira. You'll also be presented to Rikku and Paine. When the sequence is over, Rikku and Paine will jump on the deck and realise that the singing woman is not actually not Yuna! Your first battle will start. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bosses: ????? 2x Goons HPs: 82 29 each EXP: 3 1 each Difficulty: Easy --------------------------------------------------------------------- The first battle is extremelly easy. Just make yourself familiar with the controls of the game, and then take out the three enemies. Take care of both Goons first(steal them with Rikku if you wish), and then take care of that Yuna-looking woman. She doesn't use strong attacks so just take her out, don't even bother healing your two characters(Rikku and Paine). When the battle is over, you'll be controlling Rikku on the docks of Luca. Goons and Fem-Goons will be running around the dock ambushing you in random encounters. Just take them out, and continue on the screens. On the second dock, run to that Moogle(actually a person disguised as a Moogle) and press X to heal. Do it even if you don't need to regen your HP/MP since it will give you % points. So continue on and on the next dock you'll meet up with Logos, along with Ormi. They'll come at you but then, the real Yuna will introduce herself and join you to form the YRP!(Yuna, Rikku and Paine!) Second boss battle time! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bosses: Logos & Ormi HPs: 86 each EXP: 3 each Difficulty: Easy --------------------------------------------------------------------- This battle's harder than the previous but it's still an easy one. First, steal both geeks for pretty good accessories, and then beat the hell out of them. Use Yuna's Trigger Happy ability if you wish, and have Paine and Rikku do some chain attacks until the two bosses are defeated. When the battle is over, the fake Yuna you fought earlier will arrive, and she'll give back to Yuna her garment grid. You'll then be able to see that it was Leblanc, and you'll have to fight her. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss: Leblanc HP: 130 EXP: 8 Difficulty: Easy --------------------------------------------------------------------- Another easy battle. Now that Yuna has gotten her garment grid back, you'll see a mini-tutorial on how to use it, and you'll have to put on the Songstress dressphere on Yuna. Then, just steal Leblanc for a Silver Brace, and use Yuna Songstress's Dance of Darkness to blind Leblanc. The boss will just be using physical attacks(that she'll miss since she's Darknessed) and Thunder(low damages). A few hits and it's victory! When the battle is over, the three enemies will run off and you'll view the famous small intro to Yuna. Then, a huge red airship called Celsius will land on Luca; all aboard! ======================================================= Celsius You'll witness a scene(in which Brother will be making a fool of himself) and then, you'll be able to control Yuna. It's time to introduce yourself to the Gullwings! Talk to every characters on the Bridge to learn a bit about the group(Paine, Rikku, Brother, Buddy and Shinra). Also, you can view huge tutorials about the game, just go talk to Shinra and select what you need. You can learn about the battle system, level-up system, dresspheres, ect. When you are done, leave the Bridge and go at the Elevator, then select to go at the Engine Room. Downstairs in the area you can get four chests containing 4 Pheonix Downs, 3 Remedies, 4 Potions and an Ether. You see, in this area, in each Chapter the chests will be full of items again, so whenever a chapter starts, go in the Engine Room to get them. At the cabin(use the Elevator), talk to the Hypello and Yuna will tell you his name, which is actually Barkeep since no one never knew his real name. Now you can use the Gull store to buy items, and then choose to Rest. Resting at the cabin in every chapter is a must to trigger a scene(generous in % points) much later in the game, so don't forget to do it in each chapter. Once Yuna is awaken, get back the Elevator and Brother will be requesting the presence of the Gullwings at the Bridge, so head there and go to Buddy. He'll tell you that the radar spotted a sphere in Gagazet; Great sacred mountains. So Brother will take the YRP there. ======================================================= Mount Gagazet- Floating Ruins Remember Mount Gagazet in FFX? Well now you'll be taken to some floating ruins above the mountains. I gotta say this place reminds me of Fort Dragonia in Chrono Cross! Oh well, you'll see a cutscene in which Yuna will fall off the bridge you on and both Rikku and Paine will go at her rescue. Now, once Yuna's back safe, you'll get the control of her. Follow Paine and Rikku and you'll see some tutorials about how to jump and stuff in Final Fantasy X-2. To jump from a spot to another, just hold O(circle button) and run at the right direction. In the second tutorials you'll learn that you can just run toward a cliff and fall off a lower level. Get the Yellow Ring from the chest using the second tutorial and then go back up the higher level and jump to your allies. Continue south of the screen and go down to the lower level and use that save sphere. Then, go west at the dead end and press on the swith on the wall to lower the elevator you on down. Brother will contact you once again to learn more about your situation, and then you'll be able to move on. Jump off the elevator and go down, jumping from ledges to ledges until you can see a patch leading left of the waterfall. Follow it and you'll find a chest containing an Elixir on a higher platform, and go back right to the waterfall and go up until you reach some ruins. You'll meet Leblanc and her two acolytes there. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bosses: Leblanc Logos Ormi HPs: 120 100 130 EXP: 20 10 10 Difficulty: Easy --------------------------------------------------------------------- You'll have to battle the whole trio all at once but it shouldn't be any challenging really. Steal them for goodies and then take care of them the same way you did before. Take out Leblanc first, since she's tougher. Chain attacks work well in the battle, and use potions if you really need to but the battle is easy really... When they are defeated, they'll challenge you to a race for the sphere you seek here in the floating ruins! In other words; Mission Time! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Outrun the Leblanc Syndicate You have a 6 minutes timer right on your screen. You also see a bar with the Leblanc Syndicate running on it, from left to right. That bar is showing you the progress of your rivals to the treasure you seek. Now, you don't need to reach the top of the ruins before the syndicate however, if you don't win, you'll lose the opportunity to get a Muscle Belt. Since you are here, you could just win! So, from the starting point, go up north and jump on the ledges east(use the radar) until you reach the end of the ruins you on. Open the chest for a Mega- Pheonix and then go back down south and jump down until you reach an entrance to the temple. You'll meet Logos first however, and he'll summon a few fiends to duel you. Beat them, then enter the door. In the temple, quickly run north and at the intersection, press on both switches that are located at the two different paths(left and right in the intersection) and then continue north. In this screen, run north and let Yuna fall in the hole to find a chest containing a White Ring, then go back up north and go right at the next intersection to find a platform that appeared by touching both switches in the previous screen. Jump across it to find a chest(Red Ring), and go back to the intersection and go north. You are back outside but you are way higher now, on a ruined balcony. Run left and you'll meet up with Ormi. Defeat the fiends he throws at you and then, use those platforms and pillars to reach a curved ledge. You'll find a chest(star pendent) at the end of it, and then continue up, using the platforms. If you were fast enough to arrive before the Syndicate, you'll see them hanging on a ledge below a chest. You won! Use the save sphere and then, open the chest for a Muscle Belt. Continue on and climb the stairs to the top of the ruins. Say 'Hi' to the next boss! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss: Boris HP: 480 EXP: 26 Difficulty: Easy --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bah, compared to the previous bosses you fought, Boris's not bad at all! However, he's still pretty easy. He'll use some physical attacks to take away 40-50 HP from one character. He'll also use his Sticky End attack to damage the whole party and sometimes inflict Stop. To beat him down, have one of your girl equiped with the Songstress DS(dressphere) to use the Darkness dance in order to blind the boss. Use potions if you need.
